Two New Procurements for Kombinat-Plepa Road
The Albanian Road Authority is expected to open two new procurement procedures for the continuation of the project for the upgrade of the Kombinat-Ndroq-Plepa road segment, respectively for lot 2 and lot 3 of the project.
According to official data, the limit fund for lot 2 is around Lek 1.13 billion, while for lot 3 it reaches around Lek 1.46 billion, bringing the total value of the two procedures to around Lek 3 billion.
For lot 1 of the segment, the works contract was signed in September 2024. The implementation of the project has been undertaken by the merger of operators “Arifaj” and “Eurokos Holding”, with a value of Lek 567.75 million, excluding VAT.
This segment, with a length of about 28 kilometers, is considered one of the important connections between Tirana and the southern areas of the country, as an alternative to the Tirana-Durres highway.
According to the technical documentation, the segment crosses an area with high residential density and has suffered damage over the years, also affecting road traffic.
The intervention on this road aims to improve traffic conditions and increase road safety, while developing in parallel with the expansion of the Tirana-Durres highway.
The project is also expected to affect the economic development of the area, which has high agricultural potential and is marking an increase in agro-tourism, turning this segment into a corridor of tourist importance.
