Two Possible Causes of Bulgaria Bus Crash

A technical problem or a human error, these are the 2 versions given by the Chief Prosecutor of North Macedonia, Lubomir Joveski regarding the cause of the tragic accident that took place in Bulgaria on Tuesday where 46 people lost their lives, most of them Albanians from North Macedonia.

"I saw pipes at the scene, but they were not burned," he said. "It is speculated that the incident was caused by the ignition of spare oil pipes", added the Chief Prosecutor of North Macedonia.

From the latest reports, it is said that in the bus of "Besa Transit" it is possible that fuel was transported from which the fire fell in the front part of the vehicle. But this investigation lead for the chief prosecutor does not stand.

He reiterated that no parallel investigation into the incident would be conducted in North Macedonia. Joveski said he has full confidence in the professionalism of his Bulgarian colleagues.

"We will wait for the results and then the prosecution of North Macedonia will decide what to do next," Joveski said. According to their data, the bus was almost new and with regular technical control. However, Joveski underlines that at the end of the investigation the exact causes will be shown.

7 people, who are in Pirogov hospital in Bulgaria, survived the accident. Foreign media referring to sources from the hospital write that they are out of danger for life.

From the shock of what happened, they received specialized psychological support. Two of the victims were operated on yesterday. Placed in intensive therapy today were transferred to the ward of the Clinic of Burns and Plastic Surgery. One of them will be operated on today.

About half an hour before the tragic accident, the passengers and drivers of the bus stopped at the gas station where they had a 15-minute break and therefore refute the theories that the bus driver was asleep.

Upon arriving at the fatal spot on the highway, it is suspected that the driver got out of the lane and crashed into the right side of the railings. Then the front tire exploded and the bus took a direction to the left.

It hit the middle railing and moved a few meters in the middle of the highway, then stopped and in front of the bus a fire broke out that spread rapidly and loudly that engulfed the entire bus.
