US Ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim has congratulated Friday Albania on its temmporary membership to the Security Council of the United Nations.

The diplomat highlighted that history has been made with this development and expressed the wish to working with Albania even more closely in the region and around the world.

“History has been made: Congratulations to Albania on being elected for the first time ever to the UN Security Council. US looks forward to working with Albania even more closely in the region and around the world. Urime!” tweeted the US Ambassador.

Earlier today, the membership of Albania in the Council was okayed by 175 UN member states and was objected by the rest 15 states, out of 190 countries took part in the voting process.

Meanwhile, Albania’s election to the Security Council for the first time after 65 years of membership in the UN, represents a major challenge, but also an excellent opportunity for Albania, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
