Velipojë, 4 Police Officers Detained for Allowing Cannabis Cultivation
The State Police has announced that it has arrested 4 of its officers at the Velipoja station, who have favoured the cultivation of cannabis in this area. The police announces that the chief of the Velipoja Police station, the deputy commissioner and two inspectors have been arrested.
The operation was finalized by the Shkodra and Lezha Police Supervision Agency, while the police officers were charged with the criminal offense of "abuse of duty". The names of the arrested are: Zamir Sytari, Arben Hoxha, Ergys Lohja, Hysni Beqiri.
"The Regional Directorate of the Shkodra-Lezha AMP in close cooperation with the leaders of the Shkodra Judicial District Prosecutor's Office has referred the procedural materials for 4 police officers, suspected of the criminal offense "Abuse of duty".
After investigations with special methods carried out in the framework of criminal proceedings no. 869 of 2022, it was achieved in a short time to document the illegal activity of the leaders of the Velipoja Police Station.
Police has executed detention orders for police officers:
- Deputy Commissioner Zamir Sytari, 40 years old, acting Chief of Velipoja Police Station;
- Deputy Commissioner Arben Hoxha, 45 years old, acting Specialist for Crime Investigation at the Velipoja Police Station;
- Inspector Ergys Lohja., 34 years old, acting Assistant Specialist in Community Policing, at the Velipoja Police Station;
- Inspector Hysni Beqiri., 53 years old, acting Special Assistant in Community Policing, at the Velipoja Police Station.
By their actions and inactions, as persons with direct responsibility, these employees are suspected of favouring the cultivation of significant quantities of narcotic plants in areas that have had the opportunity to be supervised and controlled within the Action Plan and Operational Plan of the police. The procedural materials were transferred to the competence of the Prosecution of the Shkodra Judicial District ", it is stated in the notification of the Police.
