'ECO Schools' / Mane Foundation and Save the Children Take Concrete Steps for Climate and the Environment

At a time when concrete actions are needed for the environment and climate change, BALFIN Group, Mane Foundation, Tirana Bank, and Save the Children in Albania are working to advance "ECO Schools for Climate and the Environment" project.

This project has been embraced at the 9-year school "Rilindja" in Vlorë, starting with a series of air pollution measurements conducted by environmental experts, followed by educating children about the environment, natural resources, and the urgent need to protect them.

Based on the data collected, the children have understood that change comes only through concrete actions, such as waste reduction and consequently using recyclable materials, planting flowers and trees, and more. They have created an ecological club, from which they recently presented a unique exhibition.

With their drawings and original creations made from recyclable materials, the children have communicated awareness messages about the environment and nature, as well as the necessity of adopting eco-friendly practices. Additionally, the children have planted around 100 saplings in the schoolyard, directly contributing to the improvement of air quality.

Klodiana Aliraj, Branch Manager of Tirana Bank in Vlorë, says: "We believe that education and environmental protection go hand in hand for a more sustainable future. Through our support for 'ECO Schools for Climate and the Environment' project, we aim to empower the younger generation with knowledge and responsibility for nature."

While calling the children "true ambassadors of change," Aliraj adds: "Every tree planted, every message, and every small action today is an investment in a cleaner environment tomorrow."

The children of "Rilindja" School reinforce the messages they have learned through their art. "Our awareness messages, conveyed through drawings and various works, as well as planting saplings in the schoolyard, are very important. Not only for us but also for future generations, because we need them to maintain a clean and green environment," says one of the seventh-grade students.

According to the Education Program Manager of Save the Children in Albania, Does Derveni, "ECO Schools for Climate and the Environment" project will continue to develop further activities, which are expected to positively impact the entire community.

The project began in December 2024 and will conclude in November 2025, paving the way for many similar initiatives from BALFIN Group and Mane Foundation.

Thanks to the special attention of its founder, Samir Mane, Mane Foundation focuses its contribution on social projects related not only to education, youth, and environmental preservation but also to the health and well-being of specific social groups in need, as well as promoting public awareness of the best cultural values.
