Lukaku Slams The Sun for Smoking Picture That Wasn't Even Him

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has lashed out at The Sun newspaper and threatened legal action after they published a smoking photograph – but it was not Lukaku.

The Belgium international was both furious and amused at the case of mistaken identity from the British newspaper, which suggested he had been puffing on an e-cigarette while walking in Milan.

“You guys are messing with the wrong one,” wrote Lukaku on his Instagram Stories.

“Keep ****ing playing… My people will contact you very soon. You guys are lame as **** for posting a picture that ain’t me and posting the wrong info.”

The Sun then removed the offending tweet – but not the story on the website – and released an apology for the “mistake.”

He is on loan from Chelsea and there are strong reports that Inter will renew that agreement for one more season, then bid to purchase him outright from the summer of 2024.

The 29-year-old has been out of action for a couple of months with a muscular problem and is not going to be fit for this weekend’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina either.

Inter had sold Lukaku to Chelsea last summer for €113m and then got him back again on loan for €10m.
