Abuse of Duty, Forgery; Dimal Mayor to Be Investigated by SPAK
After a battle that lasted 2 years with endless court proceedings, citizen Petrit Baho will finally enjoy his property after winning the case against the mayor of Dimal, Juljana Memaj, whom he sued for property destruction. The Court of Berat forwarded to the Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) the decision to investigate the official Memaj for "Abuse of duty" and "Forgery of documents".
The Baho spouses from the village of Poshnje say that the ordeal of injustices and efforts began 2 years ago when the Dimal municipality gave their property, which the spouses say they have with regular certificates, to another citizen for the construction of a resort.
Spouses Baho denounced the mayor of Dimal, Juljana Memaj, as well as 2 employees of IMT (National Inspectorate of Territory Protection) for abuse of office, destruction of private property, fraud and forgery.
Today, after a 2-year investigation, the Court of Berat has concluded the trial of the case and has given the right to Baho, as according to the evidence it has been found that the municipality of Dimal has violated the law and has openly favoured the other citizen for profit purposes by building without permission a resort and a medical clinic on Baho's property and on "state land".
In conclusion, the Court of Berat decided that the municipality should cease the infringement of the ownership of the plaintiff Petri Baho and not repeat it in the future, while the municipality should demolish the constructions on the plaintiff's property at its own expense.
