Actor, Public Figures Punished for Birthday Party amid Pandemic

Albanian actor and comedian Besart Kallaku has celebrated his birthday in a restaurant of Laknas in Kamza of Tirana, where he had invited about 30 persons, breaking government’s rules on curbing the spread of coronavirus.

As a result of this action, the administrator of the restaurant was penalized with a ALL 1.000.000 fine pursuant to normative act no. 3 dated 15.03.2020, the police announced Sunday.

Among the participants in Kallaku’s birthday party was also the Chairwoman of Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) Monika Kryemadhi and President of the Republic Ilir Meta. The two senior officials will be punished for partaking in the party, along with the other attenders, the law enforcement says.

In addition, 6 officers have been suspended from duty and State Police Directorate has launched the procedure against them on serious disciplinary violation charges.

“Regarding the activity held on 20.11.2020 in a restaurant in Laknas village, Kamza Municipality, where the citizen B. K., had organized a birthday ceremony and had invited about 30 people, the Local Police Directorate of Tirana immediately took measures in implementation of the Normative Act for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.

Also, based on the film footage, all persons who were participants in the activity were identified and will be punished with administrative measure for violation of restrictive measures anticovid-19”, informed the police.
