Albania-Spain Sign Deal of Coop against Organized Crime

Agreement between the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of the Interior of the Kingdom of Spain on the fight against crime has been signed this Monday, during the visit of Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez to Tirana.

For the Albanian side, the signing was made by the Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi, while for the Spanish side, by Ambassador Álvaro Renedo Zalba.

This agreement between the two countries addresses the need for more ambitious international cooperation to effectively combat all forms of organized crime, in particular criminal organizations whose object is drug trafficking, human trafficking, money laundering criminal activity and terrorism.

Albania and Spain will establish joint investigation groups in the field of the fight against international organized crime using the instruments of police intelligence and investigation that both countries consider appropriate.

However, this form is considered one of the most advanced methods of international police cooperation to develop complex investigations of criminal organizations operating in several states and to exchange information in real time.

Spain, as a member of the EU, remains an important partner for Albania when it comes to police cooperation and the fight against organized crime.

Together they have carried out several successful operations to attack criminal groups in the field of cannabis cultivation.

One of them was the "Dobra" operation, which led to the arrest of over 100 people, as well as the involvement of over 400 police officers in Spain, Albania and Germany.

Albania has also set up a series of investigation teams with other countries of the European Union, which have given tangible results in the fight against organized crime.
