Albanian Hotels, the Cheapest after Turkey's

It's the last days of the year. Many people plan to spend the end of the year at home, or in a bar within the country, others do not hesitate to travel. 

Europe has many alternatives, some cheap, medium or very expensive. 

Eurostat has published the price index of restaurants and hotels, measured according to purchasing power, where the average of the European Union (EU=100) is taken as the basis of comparison. 

The most expensive country in Europe is Switzerland, where hotels and restaurants cost 168% of the European average. 

According to Eurostat, the nominal expenses per inhabitant for hotels and restaurants in 2021 in the European Union were 1,067 euros, while in Switzerland they exceed 2,200 euros. 

At similar levels to Switzerland are the Nordic countries and Iceland, where you have to pay 32-66% more than the European Union average. 

You have to pay more than the average in Belgium (123%), France (121%), or Austria (116%). 

In Italy, England, or Germany, hotel and restaurant prices fluctuate around the European Union average. 

In Cyprus and Malta, the indicator drops to around 90% of the European average, and in Greece and Croatia, it fluctuates around 81-84%. 

Portugal is one of the cheapest countries in the European Union to stay in hotels and go to restaurants, at about 73% of the European average. For several years in a row, the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, was ranked as one of the main destinations in Europe. 

Countries in the region are generally among the cheapest in Europe, with accommodation and food costing on average half or less of the European average. 

The most expensive in the region are Montenegro, with about 57% of the European average, and Serbia and Bosnia with 55%. 

Albania and North Macedonia are not only the cheapest in the region, but also among the cheapest in Europe, with 46.2% of the European average. 

According to Eurostat, Eurostat data shows that the nominal expenditure per inhabitant for hotels and restaurants in 2021 in Albania was 185 euros. 

In recent years, our country has become an attractive destination for tourists from all over the world, who come to enjoy not only the natural beauty, but also the prices that are still cheaper than in many other European countries. 

For the 11th month, according to INSTAT, a record number of 7.1 million foreigners visited the country, exceeding by 17% the level before the pandemic. 

Figures for Kosovo are missing, but other rankings show that the price level is slightly cheaper than Albania. 

The cheapest in Europe is Turkey 

Turkey is the destination of many Albanians both during the summer and during the holidays. And not in vain. Accommodation and food in Turkey is the cheapest in Europe, with only 42% of the European average.
