Albanian opposition lawmaker Gazment Bardhi has called on Prime Minister Edi Rama to explain what he described as the government’s failure to implement Constitutional Court rulings concerning the salaries of judges and prosecutors.

In a statement posted on social media, Bardhi accused the government of delaying the implementation of the court’s decisions, arguing that the situation has created serious financial difficulties within the justice system and left magistrates and court and prosecution staff without their expected salaries.

Bardhi questioned why the government had not taken steps to implement the Constitutional Court’s rulings within the deadlines set by the court. He also rejected claims that the responsibility for retroactive payments owed to magistrates since April 2023 rests with the Administrative Court, citing a February 2026 Constitutional Court decision that, according to him, established both the obligation and the formula for calculating the outstanding payments.

The Democratic Party parliamentary group leader also criticized what he described as a discrepancy between salary increases granted to senior state officials and the treatment of judges and prosecutors.

Bardhi said the government must comply with Constitutional Court decisions and called on Prime Minister Rama to provide answers over the handling of magistrates’ salaries, stressing that no institution is above the Constitution.
