Alibeaj Withdraws Lawsuit on DP's Status
MP Enkelejd Alibeaj has withdrawn Tuesday his court lawsuit regarding Democratic Party's (DP) statute
Alibeaj's decision has been announced by the Legal Representative of the DP, Indrit Sefa, who stressed that "the case has turned into a legal artifice that is dragging on".
"I thank you all for your continued interest and for the way you have conveyed to the public the continuation of this judicial process.
Today we would like to inform you that in the court session that is expected to start shortly, the Democratic Party will submit a request for the waiver of the appeal and consequently the suspension of the trial of this case.
First of all, it is worth noting that this issue is of a procedural nature and has now lost its relevance. Today's judgment, for which we request the dismissal of the case, determines whether the July 2021 assembly will be registered or not in the registry of political parties of the Court of Tirana.
Because the statute approved by the Assembly of July 2021 is the act on which it is claimed that the meeting of the so-called Assembly of December 11, 2021 was based, the continuation of the trial of this case simply prevents the trial of the issue on the legitimacy of the Assembly of December 11 and the final solution of the legitimacy of the governing bodies of the Democratic Party.
In the conditions where the case has turned into a legal artifice that is dragging on, we are convinced that the trial planned for today has probably become an obstacle for the trial of Zhukri's decision. Which is essentially the main problem waiting for a solution. In order to speed up the decision on this issue, we have submitted a request for mediation on May 31.
The final decision by the court on this matter will bring the clarification of many problems that have accompanied the political activity of the Democratic Party during these months. Without wanting to prejudge the decision that the judges will take, I cannot remain without mentioning that for so many months in a row it is strange if not intentional that the decision is delayed without a clear reason.
For the above, we appeal to the current court, there is no obstacle to examine the Zhukri case", proclaimed Sefa.
