Angry Albanians Protest for 2nd Night in Different Roads over Police Killing of Young Man

Demonstrators clashed with police, and set fires during a second night of protests in Albania over the killing of a young man by a police officer two days ago.

Police fired tear gas and formed a human barricade to keep protesters from destroying public properties as institution's doors, roads signs, Socialist Party headquarters windows, etc.

They pushed protesters back many times but the crowd found other ways to block.

Police urged to leave the area  where several fires were burning, warning of the "extremely dangerous situation".

Outrage has grown across the country at Klodian Rasha's death on Tuesday. Earlier Prime Minister, Edi Rama said that the Interior Minister resigned but this statement does not helped much to calm down the angry protesters.

The police had first said that Rasha failed to obey a police officer’s order to stop and that he had carried a weapon. But later the police said the man was holding an object but not a weapon, as initially reported.

Protesters who were demanding the resignation of the interior minister threw objects at his ministry and set Christmas trees on fire as police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, a Reuters witness said.

Two police officers and a journalist were reported slightly injured.

The police officer who allegedly killed the man was arrested and an investigation was launched.
