Arrested Indian Left in Prison by Tirana Court

Tirana Court has left Saturday in prison the 31-year-old Indian, Mitin Mirsha, who was arrested on Friday in Rinas, after the USA had issued two international arrest warrants against him, for drug trafficking by two different courts. 

According to the police, the arrest of the Indian was the coordination of the RSO/DSS, the State Police and the DEA, with the aim of extradition to the USA, for the criminal offense of drug trafficking, carried out in the form of a criminal group. 

Meanwile, the State Police in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the General Prosecutor's Office, is working for the extradition of this citizen to the USA. This is the first strike that the DEA office in Albania makes.

One day ago, the Albaniandailynews.com reported that State Police handcuffed at Rinas Airport a citizen declared internationally wanted by the American authorities, for narcotics trafficking. 

The Indian citizen was arrested for the purpose of extradition to the USA, for the criminal offense of drug trafficking, carried out in the form of a criminal group. 

"The Joint Investigative Unit, consisting of the Regional Security Office/Office of Criminal Investigations Outside the US (RSO, OCI), at the US Embassy in Tirana and the Albanian Special Police Unit, known as "Joint Shield", in cooperation and coordination with the American Law Enforcement Agency DEA, have pursued a case related to the execution of two arrest warrants issued by two different courts in the USA. 

The coordination of these three agencies, RSO/DSS, State Police and DEA, resulted in the arrest in Rinas, for the purpose of extradition to the USA, of an Indian citizen, for the criminal offense of drug trafficking, committed as a criminal group. 

For the arrest of this citizen and the carrying out of other investigative actions by the Albanian side (the "Common Shield" Unit) it has been coordinated in real time with the central Albanian justice authorities and the latter have given the green light for this joint investigative operation. 

The "Common Shield" Police Unit has conducted preliminary investigations in constant coordination, both with the Regional Security Office of the American embassy in Tirana, and with DEA ??officials in Albania. 

As a result of previously coordinated actions, the "Common Shield" Police Unit has managed to locate and arrest the Indian citizen N.M., 31 years old, in the territory of the Republic of Albania, executing two American arrest warrants, but also carrying out other investigations according to the agreements in the field of criminal investigations in force between the USA and Albania. 

The State Police, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the General Prosecutor's Office, is working for the extradition of this citizen to the USA," the police said.
