The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, has reacted regarding the punch attack on the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, while he was in protest. Through a reaction, Begaj strongly condemned the attack, encouraging the law enforcement bodies for a full investigation and clarifying the dynamics of the event. 

"The President of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Bajram Begaj condemns the physical attack on Mr. Sali Berisha. 

The President of the Republic of Albania, Sh. Mr. Bajram Begaj strongly condemns the physical attack that occurred during today's opposition protest against Mr. Sali Berisha, Member of Parliament, former President and former Prime Minister of the Republic. 

President Begaj considers these acts unacceptable and contradicting the principles of democracy and the development of peaceful protests. 

The Head of State encourages the authorities to investigate this case of violence and clarify the dynamics of the event as soon as possible. 

Freedom of speech and peaceful assembly are constitutional rights and as such must be guaranteed and protected," it is said in the announcement.
