Banks' Net Profit Rises 25% y/y in Jan-July

The net profit of Albanian banks rose to Lek 21.8 billion (Dollar 241.5 million/Euro 218.9 million) in the first seven months of 2024, from Lek 17.46 billion in the prior-year period, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) said.

The outstanding loan portfolio of banks in the country totaled Lek 795.8 billion at the end of July, an increase from Lek 702.9 billion a year earlier, AAB said in a monthly report earlier, quoting Albanian central bank data.

Deposits in Albanian banks increased to Lek 1.62 trillion as at the end of July, from Lek 1.49 trillion a year earlier. The total assets of the country's banking system grew to Lek 2 trillion, from Lek 1.83 trillion as of the end-July 2023.

The figures comprise the financial results of eleven Albanian banks. Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT) was the largest among them in terms of assets at the end of the second quarter.
