Basha Guarantees DP’s Commitment for Territorial, Electoral Reform
Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha has announced Monday that there will be a commitment of the Democratic Party for electoral and territorial reform which he sees necessary for a democratic society.
In the meeting of the National Council, DP’s Chair assured that the mission of the political structure he heads will be to keep alive the values that will be at the center of the opposition action, while pointing out that the PD is a space for every citizen who demands change.
“We must do this with and for Albanians who demand free elections, constitutional and legal changes that guarantee the separation and balance of powers, that improve political representation, that reform territorial division and democratize local government, that enable the exercise of direct democracy through local and national referendums, proposals for the liberation of the economy from the oligarchs and the failed economic model that is taking the breath away from honest enterprise, for the freedom and independence of the media, for the eventual detachment of politics from crime, changes that make society truly democratic.
The opposite of what the rule of this regime represents, is the small state, the freedom of the individual, the separation of powers, the freedom of enterprise, elements that are in the DNA of our political family.
From our first day, we have fought for these values, we are the people who believe in them, so our mission is to fight with all the strength that the Albanians have given us to live them, keeping them at the center of our political action.
Through them, we have marked the most significant achievements that have changed for the better the lives of Albanians in the past, and I am convinced that these are the same values with which we will achieve the most essential changes for Albanian families in the futureâ€, marked Basha.
