Case of Dysentery Registered in Lac, Kindergarten Closed
A case of dysentery was registered this Friday in a kindergarten in Lac.
A child was diagnosed with this disease and was transported to the hospital in Tirana for additional treatment, while the kindergarten was closed and disinfected.
The mayor of Lac, informed that controls are being done for possible other cases.
"We immediately set up a working group to verify the case and, according to the recommendations of Public Health specialists, the kindergarten premises were disinfected, which will remain closed until all other children have been medically examined," she announced.
In the meantime, the parents of the children will be kept in touch by the staff of this kindergarten.
Dysentery is a gastrointestinal disease. Its causes include bacterial or parasitic infections. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting, weight loss and stomach cramps. Your healthcare provider can diagnose dysentery with a stool culture. Treatment includes antibiotics.
