Former PM Asks Police to Release Perpetrator Who Punched Him

The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, demanded that the police release the person who punched him on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard during Tuesday's opposition protest.

"We tell the police to release the unfortunate man. Release him because he is a wretch, he has sold himself. There is only one perpetrator, this is Edi Rama. Don't spread rumors and tales because the real perpetrator is sitting in the Summit", said Berisha.

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha was punched with a fist during today's protest while he was walking on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard.

Gert Shehu, 31 years old, is the author who punched Berisha during the protest. He ended up in the Trauma hospital in Tirana due to numerous injuries received due to the violence exercised against him by Sali Berisha's bodyguards. Sources inform that the young man has multiple hematomas and is undergoing further tests to look for internal bleeding.

Officers are trying to question him again, but so far he has not spoken. As reported, the person in question suffers from a nervous breakdown and has a medical record.
