Former Vora Mayor's Arrest, Italian Media Unveil More Details

Agim Kajmaku, the former mayor of Vora, who was arrested in Italy after being caught with 20 kg of cocaine, had travelled by plane from Tirana to Ancona five days before he was caught by the authorities of the neighbouring country.

The Italian media write that after the verification it turned out that he travelled to Monterubbiano together with his nephew. They were moving in drug trafficking with the support of Albanian organized crime. Italian authorities have suspicions that other Albanian politicians are also involved in drug trafficking.

Kajmaku is suspected of using the flower company registered in the name of his wife to carry out cocaine trafficking in some areas of Italy while checks have also been carried out in the port of Durres.

The investigative group with Albanian and Italian investigators have recently exercised a detailed control in a truck of this company that arrived in the port of Durres where it discovered some hidden places inside the vehicle, however it did not find any narcotics.

But that was enough for them to create the scheme by which hundreds of kilograms of drugs were allegedly transported.

The media write that the Albanian police has found a checking account in the name of the former mayor's wife where 2 million dollars have been deposited. The source of the income is already being investigated.
