German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with Pope Francis this Wednesday about the war situation in Ukraine. 

During this conversation, Scholz has expressed that he agrees with the Pope's call for this war to end immediately. 

"The German chancellor agreed with Pope Francis that this war should end immediately," said a German government spokesman, adding: "In view of the humanitarian situation, a ceasefire is needed and would help avoid further suffering."
