Germany Allows Non-Married Couples to Reunite, Albanians Included

Germany has finally decided to permit unmarried partners of German citizens and residents to enter the Federal territory, who have been separated for over four months now, due to the Coronavirus entry ban introduced back in mid-March all across Europe.

In Germany, couples will have to present an invitation by the partner who lives in there and sign a statement confirming that they are in a relationship.

In the announcement published by Tirana International Airport, it is reported that the German government has clarified that if the person in question does not have an EU passport or a German visa, certain conditions must be met. First, the couple must be in a long-term relationship / partnership and both partners must have met in person at least once in Germany.

Tirana International Airport announced that, despite the criteria outlined above, the decision whether to allow entry is at the discretion of the German Federal Border Police.

"All travelers must still follow the quarantine requirements of the respective federal state of Germany," said the official announcement of the German federal government.

Unmarried partners from a separate list of "high-risk" regions and countries may also enter, but have to undergo mandatory testing and quarantine until they have a negative test. Countries on the high-risk list include the United States, Turkey and Iran.
