Greece Holds Polls for Local Representatives' Election

Citizens of Greece are voting this Sunday to elect local government representatives.

Voting process started at 07:00, with the exception of some voting centers, where the absence of some members of the electoral commissions and judicial representatives caused a delay of several minutes.

9.7 million Greeks have the right to vote. 22 thousand polling stations have been set up in Greece.

There are 1,222 local formations claiming the councils of the country's 332 municipalities, while another 78 fight for the 13 districts of Greece, 12 of which are held by the conservatives in power, who hope to win the district of Crete as well.

Winners will receive their 5-year mandate on January 1, 2024.

All citizens who have reached the age of 17 and are registered in the electoral roll of the municipality have the right to vote.

Even this time, the lists of candidates for municipal or district councilors do not lack Albanian citizens who have the right to vote in Greece.

Ballot boxes opened at seven in the morning and will close after 12 hours, while around 9 in the evening local time the first results will start to appear.
