Greek Media Reveals Rama's Proposal for Himara Municipality

The largest Greek newspaper "Kathimerini" has revealed that "Prime Minister Edi Rama has proposed Vangjel Tavo as the temporary mayor of the municipality of Himara".

"Kathimerini" reports that Rama and Tavo met in a well-known cafe in Tirana and there the Albanian Prime Minister, after expressing his desire to end the deadlock with Athens, asked him for help in this direction for Tavo to take over the role of the temporary six-month mayor of Himara.

As Tavo's colleagues report, Rama explained to him that during his term as mayor, the trial will end and if Beleri is declared innocent, he will take the post of mayor, otherwise, new elections will be announced in the Municipality of Himara.

According to the same sources, writes "Kathimerini", Tavo explained to Rama that he should not forget that he comes from Dropulli and not from Himara. The prime minister told him that "the other members of the Greek minority are not from Himara, but govern there".

The newspaper further writes that Tavo did not reject Rama's proposal and is said to have declared to him that he would be ready to help alleviate the situation.

However, he made it clear to Rama that he would only accept it if it was accepted by the Greek side, while emphasizing that he will not sign any decision or document that may be related to the Greek properties of Himara.
