Hero of Democracy's Wife Expelled from Justice System

The Appeal Chamber has confirmed the dismissal from office of former judge Fatmira Hajdari, who was dismissed by the decision of the Independent Qualification Committee (IQC) as she did not justify transactions with properties and the construction of a 10-story building without a permit. 

Hajdari appealed the decision given by the IQC two years ago, but still did not find support in the Appeal Chamber, which rejected her appeal. 

"Hajdari was also deemed unsuitable in the image criterion, since according to the Commission she had not declared the revocation of two visas from the United States of America in the form for this criterion.

"At the end of the trial in the consultation room, the panel, based on article 66, point 1, letter "a" of law no. 84/2016, "On the transitional re-evaluation of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania", unanimously decided : 

1. The enforcement of decision no. 265, dated 18.06.2020 of the IQC, which belongs to the subject of reassessment Fatmira Hajdaraj (Hajdari). 

2. This decision is final and has immediate effect. 

It was announced, in Tirana, on 24.10.2022", it is stated in the announcement. 

Fatmira Hajdari is the widow of Azem Hajdari, the MP and one of the leaders of the December movement against the dictatorship in the 90s, who was killed in 1998. He was known as the Hero of Democracy. She started her career in the justice system in 2003 as a judge of the Court of Tirana. In July 2013, Hajdari was decreed by the President as a judge in the Court of Appeal of Tirana.
