Higher Salaries for Prison Police Employees

The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, through a statement to the media, announced the decisions of the government taken during Friday's meeting of the Council of Ministers, regarding the department he heads, including higher salaries for the Prison Police employees.

Manja stated that next year's draft budget envisages that the Prison Police employees will now be in the same ranks and function as their counterparts in the State Police.

The Minister of Justice also stressed that the government placed a special fund at the disposal of the Anti-Corruption Directorate that was created in the Ministry of Justice, in order for employees to have well-paid salaries and not to be influenced in their work.

"There is good news for the Ministry of Justice. The first has to do with the increase of the salaries of the Prison Police who will be in ranks and in function with the State Police. It is a promise kept by the Albanian government. The second one is about the fight against Corruption.

Two days ago we approved the creation of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption in the Ministry of Justice, while today in this budget, to maintain the integrity of this structure, the responsible unit will have a special budget, not to be tempted by corruption.

While the coordinators of the anti-corruption network will be well paid and at the structural level will be equal to the deputy director, where they will exercise their function", said Manja.
