Infrastructure Minister Inspects Works on Tirana Great Ring Road

In lot 2 of the northern part of the Great Ring Road of Tirana, 65% of the physical works have been completed so far. The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, along with the director of the Albanian Road Authority, Evis Berberi, were at the construction site to closely follow the progress of the works.

In this lot, with a length of 2 kilometers, the opening of the track in its entire length has been completed, while the work has already focused on the placement of the bridge beams, one of the most important works of this project.

"Given that we had a very good pace, we claim to have completed it within the month of September. We have reached today, on the bridge which is the biggest bridge we have in this segment, out of 72 beams we have produced 67, we are producing the last 5 beams and from Monday morning we claim to start assembling the beams, which it will last 15 to 20 days", said Berberi, referring to the progress of the works.

The construction of the Great Ring Road will not only facilitate traffic in the capital, but will also enable the urbanization of the areas along which it passes.

"The entire area is expected to have urban development, even from all the plans that have been said, both the mayor of Kamza and the mayor of Tirana are thinking about how these areas will be developed to be accommodation areas for young families , for those packages of soft loans that we have already passed a DCM that will start to be functional for all those police, army or health workers who will want to apply for these loans. These are the areas that are planned for urbanization", Balluku underlined.

Works for lot number 2 are expected to be completed in September of this year, before the deadline stipulated in the contract. At this point, Minister Balluku emphasized that it is important to advance these projects as their impact is very big.

"Keep up the work on every site and it's really gratifying that every time I visit them the progress is evident and we're staying within the contract deadlines. It used to be that when we declared that we would finish on time, it was a very big victory, but it is no longer the case, since only those projects that we have inherited with the problems they have, such as cases of geological problems or failure to solve some nodes certain due to the expropriations, the rest of the projects, especially the new projects, the projects of the last years that start with the study, start with all the completed stages of the administrative procedures, none of them go beyond the deadline and this is something very good", said Balluku.

Meanwhile, work continues on the other four lots of the Great Ring Road of Tirana where work is being done to open the track and build the works of art that are part of this project.
