Italy Wins Eurovision, Albania Ranked 21
Italy has won the 65th edition of the European Song Festival 2021. In 26 competing songs in the competition for the grand prize in the final night, with 524 points the music group 'Maneskin' who performed the song 'Zitti e Buoni', managed to raise the trophy in "Eurovision 2021"!
It was the public vote that turned everything upside down, giving Italy first place in the race. "Rock n 'roll never dies" were the first words of the Italian group as it climbed on stage to lift the trophy. In second place with 499 points was France, while third place with 432 points went to Switzerland, which was represented by a singer of Albanian origin.
Gjon Muharremaj known by his stage name, Gjon’s Tears was represented in this competition with the song entitled ‘Tout l’Univers’. He managed to secure the votes of the jury, ranking first, from the votes of 39 states with 267 points, but it was the vote of the public that determined the winner, lowering him to third place.
Singer Anxhela Peristeri, who represented Albania with the song 'Karma', was ranked 21st, with 57 points in total. Among the countries that voted for our country, were Malta giving its maximum 12 points, Denmark which voted with 7 points, while San Marino rated the Albanian song with 2 points, 35 points were the public votes for Angela Peristeri.
This year's competition took place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 'Maneskin' group returns to Eurovision in Italy after 31 years. They are the third Italian artists to win the European festival after Gigliola Cinquetti in 1964 and Toto Cutugno in 1990. The next edition will be held in Italy.
