Meeting of Mandates Council Postponed for Ahmetaj's Case

The meeting of the Council of Mandates regarding the SPAK request for the arrest of former minister Arben Ahmetaj has been postponed to Wednesday.

The meeting will start at 16:00. Earlier, during the meeting, Ahmetaj's defense lawyers stated that he is not currently in Albania.

"He is not currently in Albania", said the lawyers. At today's meeting of the Council of Mandates, the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, prosecutor Enkeleda Millonai and Ahmetaj's lawyers were present. The meeting was held behind closed doors at the request of SPAK due to investigative secrecy.

On Monday, the special prosecution submitted the request to the Assembly to obtain the approval for Ahmetaj's arrest. The Special Prosecutor's Office asks the Assembly to pave the way for the arrest of the former deputy prime minister, who is being investigated for three charges, that of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
