Meidani-Wilson Meeting, Counter-Terrorism Programs on Focus
Director of the Center Against Violent Extremism, Denion Meidani, received on an official visit, the Advisor of the US Department of State for Regional Anti-Terrorism Programs resident in Sarajevo, Randy Wilson.
During the bilateral meeting in the premises of the Center Against Violent Extremism, Meidani informed Wilson on the work processes of the institution he directs as well as the obligations arising from the Cross-Sectoral Strategy and Action Plan for this purpose.
Also, Meidani informed about the work carried out in the rehabilitation, re-integration and re-socialization processes of Albanian citizens returned from the conflict zones of Syria and Iraq, the lessons learned from these processes as well as the strategic objectives, where the Center Against Violent Extremism and the Ministry of Interior aims to achieve in the near future.
Wilson thanked Meidani, and through him the Ministry of the Interior, for the hospitality and the excellent work done so far. He emphasized the fact that Albania is an example of success in the processes of repatriation, re-integration and re-socialization of Albanian citizens returned from the conflict zones of Syria and Iraq, as well as the fight against terrorism.
Wilson also assured that the office he leads will continue to be an unsparing supporter of the Center Against Violent Extremism and the Home Office in the joint fight against violent extremism and terrorism.
During the 3-day visit to Albania, Wilson accompanied by the Director of CVE and ICITAP Counsel at the US Department of Justice, William Sage, held meetings with the Director General of Prisons Admir Abrija, the Director of the Internal Control Service in Prisons, Klevis Qose, the Director of the Prisons Police Paulin Rajta, the General Director of the Probation Service, Ervin Hoxha, the Director of Anti-Terror in the State Police, Alban Dautaj, as well as other leaders of intelligence and law enforcement agencies in the country.
At the end of the visit to Tirana, Wilson accompanied by the Director of QKEDH and ICITAP advisor of the US Department of Justice, Sage held a closing meeting with the Deputy Minister of Interior Romina Kuko. Wilson underlined the fact that the CVE in Albania is a case of success in dealing with returnee processes, as well as guaranteed the deputy minister that the office he leads will support the Center Against Violent Extremism and the Ministry of the Interior to increase capacities in the process of transforming Center in the Agency Against Terrorism and Extremism as well as the joint fight against this phenomenon.
