Memorial Hospital of Fier Unveiled
The Memorial regional hospital of Fier was inaugurated on Wednesday. This hospital was built in less than 3 months and cost 70 million Euros. Project was undertaken by Turkey after an agreement signed on January during PM Edi Rama’s visit in Ankara. According to authorities this hospital will implement hospital autonomy. Part of the staff will come from Turkey and part of it will be from Albania. “Here we are today at a hospital built in a record time and equipped with modern devices which is set to serve the entire south region, we are speaking about the Districts of Fier, Gjirokastra and Vlora,†said Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu.
PM Edi Rama praised the collaboration between Albania and Turkey and declared that better things are yet to come. “During Ankara’s historic meeting we have signed several agreements and work has started for the development of tourism and cultural heritage. Together with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan we have agreed on a series of investments which will bring quality employment and excellence in industry, by building high end manufactures. The cherry on top will be the opening of the Istanbul Technical University in Albania, one of the best universities in the world,†said Premier Rama.
The Turkish Minister of Health Fahretin Koxha attended inauguration ceremony declaring that the 150-beds capacity hospital was built in 68 days, 3 days before the deadline. “Apart from the 7 operation beds, the 20 emergency service beds, we are going to bring modern equipment, starting from RPS, radiology, etc,†Koxha noted. He emphasized that hospital is 100% functional and will have 56 staff members from Turkey and 331 from Albania.
