Murderer of Two Czech Tourists Sentenced to Life in Prison
The High Court has upheld the life sentence for Sokol Mjacaj, who killed two Czech tourists in July 2015. The court decided not to accept Sokol Mjacaj's appeal.
Michael Svatos, 27 years old, and Ana Kosinova, 36 years old, were killed by the robber's attack on the evening of July 4, 2015. The young man asked them to hand over the money and the "Nissan" car with Czech license plates.
The author was caught after negotiations with the police, while he had entered an apartment in Gruda.
"I forced my way into the Czechs' car. I wanted to take their car, but they didn't understand or pretended not to understand. When the boy tried to take my gun, I shot him. First him and then the woman", said the 27-year-old after the arrest.
During the court sessions, he asked the jury for mercy: "I only wanted to rob them, I had no intention of killing them. I killed the boy because he wanted to take my gun, while the girl was hit by a bullet when the car was rolling."
