New Foreign Minister Igli Hasani Received by Predecessor Xhaçka

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, officially took office after taking the oath at noon to the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj. 

The new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, was received at the ministry premises by her predecessor, Olta Xhaçka, and the diplomatic staff, where the official handing over ceremony was held, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. 

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, said that the main priority of the Foreign Ministry will continue to be European integration, as he emphasized that the Albanian chairmanship of the OSCE and engagement in the Security Council have qualitatively increased Albania's role in the international arena. 

"It is up to all of us to try to bring more investments to our country, to help this qualitative progress that this beautiful country has taken. I am very convinced that together we will create the right modalities to advance even further on the path ahead of us", he said. 

Deputy Prime Minister Balluku praised the work of former Minister Olta Xhaçka, as she wished success to the Foreign Minister, Igli Hasani, in his new position. 

"I believe that thanks to the clear vision that Olta has implemented for a long time, raising the level of the Foreign Ministry to another level and with the desire that I see that Igli has to continue, only good works will be done in the future and we will only mark other achievements in Albanian diplomacy", she said. 

Former Minister Olta Xhaçka appreciated the support and commitment of the diplomatic corps during these years, which she described as quite challenging but quite successful for Albanian diplomacy. 

"I am very proud of the advancement of the EU integration process and the approach of the dream of Albanians to return to Europe and I am especially proud of the tireless commitment in support of Kosovo. Albania today enjoys an admirable reputation in the international arena because we knew how to face extraordinary challenges", she said. 

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, has served as the Coordinator of the Economic and Environmental Dimension of the OSCE since November 2021. 

While earlier he was the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the International Organizations in Vienna, where he headed the Mission of Albania to the OSCE, from January 2018 to November 2021, during which time Albania also held the next chairmanship of the OSCE.
