New Support Package for Investments in Alps

Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the northern village of Theth on Tuesday to meet with the representatives of agro-tourism operating in the area, where he discussed a new support package for investments in the Alps.

Accompanied by the Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali and the Mayor of Shkodra, Benet Beci, the Prime Minister announced that he would discuss “with those who have opened the doors and turned Theth into a European tourist destination, about the new package of support for investments in these mountains”.

Rama said that this package will bring back people who have migrated in search of a better life.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this will allow the economy to strengthen the tourism sector, thanks to millions of tourists who are visiting Albania. “There are more tourists this year than last year's 10 million, which means much more income, much more consumption, work for the entire production chain of the country, and above all much more pride for Albania,” Rama said.

On the other hand, Shkodra Mayor Beci announced that the second lot of the Dukagjini road, an eagerly awaited project by the locals, will begin very soon. “Today the machineries are there, they are waiting to build another 30 km of roads,” he said.

Later in the day, Rama inspected the works at the road site, a very important segment for the completion of the road network of the Alps in terms of tourism development. Rama closely followed the progress of works on this axis, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The Albanian Alps, the main region in the north of the country for mountain tourism, are where sharp mountain peaks, alpine pastures, dense forests, lakes, and rushing rivers reign in true peace with nature.  The Albanian Alps are the most mountainous and interesting region of Albania, recently becoming one of the most attractive destinations for tourists worldwide.
