No New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Skanderbeg Square
The year of 2020 has been challenging for Albanians in unimaginable ways. Unlike other years, the 00:00 m fireworks display in Skanderbeg Square has been cancelled to avoid violating the curfew that starts at 20:30.
Still, in 12 administrative units of Tirana, fireworks shows and other displays are still on schedule, giving at least a small opportunity to celebrate the start of 2021.
New Year's Eve celebrations have begun with people bidding goodbye to a tumultuous year that many would prefer to forget as the coronavirus pandemic has faded the spirit of celebrations.
All cities in Albania have enacted strict crowd-limiting restrictions or banned massive gatherings amid rising coronavirus cases.
