PM Rama, Albanian Delegation to Travel to Brussels for Launch of EU Talks
Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Albanian delegation will travel this Monday to Brussels to officially start the negotiations on Albania's membership in the European Union.
After the vote in the Parliament of North Macedonia on the French proposal, the representatives of the member countries will gather to pave the way for the opening of negotiations for our 2 countries.
This delegation consists of 25 government and administration figures, who are key in the integration process, starting with the head of government Rama, the head of diplomacy Xhaçka, the chief negotiator Zef Mazi, the deputy min. and directors dealing with the issue of negotiations.
This Monday, the ambassadors of the EU member states will also gather, and then the agenda of the First EU-Albania Intergovernmental Conference will be even clearer. The conference will take place on the morning of July 19. It is predicted that the meeting will last 90 minutes and then there will be a press conference.
However, the Albanian delegation is headed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, while the EU delegation will be headed by the Czech Foreign Minister, as the country that holds the next EU Chairmanship, while the high representative for the politics of foreign affairs, Borrel and the Commissioner for expansion, Varhelyi will attend the meeting.
On its part, the Albanian delegation will sit in front of the representatives of the 27 member countries of the union in the presence of the high representative of foreign policy, Josef Borrell, the Commissioner for Enlargement, Varhelyi and the Czech Foreign Minister.
Representatives of both parties will present the negotiating framework, which must be approved and will also be the official opening of negotiations for Albania.
