PM Rama Congratulates Hashim Thaci on 55th Birthday

Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has congratulated the former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, on his 55th birthday.

The head of the government says that he has a concern that he cannot convey his congratulations to Thaçi over the phone as we remember that the former head of state of Kosovo is in The Hague as he is being tried for the war during the years 1998-1999.

In the congratulatory message, Rama lists three questions and emphasizes the creation of the court, which according to him is developing its history unfairly towards the people who fought for the freedom of the people of Kosovo.

“Today has been a gloomy day for me as well. Usually on this day of the year, I have been used for years to wish my brother, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, a happy birthday. And the obstacle to wishing a happy birthday to a loved one, alive and taken hostage under known circumstances, not by dark and unknown forces, but by the High International Community, has been hanging over my head like a void all day. I didn't want to make a digital greeting in the morning with the picture and the words that are said to someone that you can even receive on the phone, I don't know, a lump in my throat prevented me, a kind of anger from helplessness stopped me. I have no idea if my brother will be able to read these lines today, which are not even congratulations, even though I am wishing him to live as long as the mountains of Albania, but I know for sure that on this birthday of Hashim Thaçi all day I have the question stuck in my brain like a nail: Did they, our great friends who created that court, know that its history would unfold like this, so grimly unjust with people who fought for the freedom of their people and with Kosovo itself?! I am afraid that I will never know the truth about this. Maybe I have this fear from the cloudiness inside me that I could not wish Hashim a happy birthday by phone, as I have been used to for many years”, stated Rama.
