Police Fines Thousands for Breaking Covid Measures

State Police has fined 2511 citizens during the weekend for failing to implement anti-covid measures, 2488 out of whom for not wearing a protective mask. 

Police also announced that four businesses have been fined by ALL 1 million each for exercising their activities in violation of security protocols established in the framework of curbing further spread of Covid-19.

"Police structures, in addition to fulfilling the functional tasks of preventing, detecting and combating illegality, continue controls throughout the country, to monitor the implementation of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. 

During the weekend, the General Patrols have identified and punished with an administrative measure of ALL 3.000, out of which 2184 citizens who have been ascertained without protective masks. 

The Traffic Police Services have punished with the same administrative measure, 304 citizens who traveled in private vehicles with persons with whom they had no family ties or in public transport vehicles, without wearing protective masks. 

During the weekend inspections, the Police services have ascertained 4 different entities that exercised their activity in violation of the security protocols. An administrative measure of ALL 1,000,000 has been imposed on the administrator of each entity. 

Also, throughout the country 19 citizens who were found moving on foot after 20:00 were fined with an administrative measure of ALL 10,000.

Pursuant to anti-Covid measures, the State Police appeals to all citizens and drivers to respect the curfew, put on a mask and maintain social distance, while businesses, bars and restaurants respect safety protocols and closing hours, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19", announced the Police.
