President Begaj Meets North Macedonian Counterpart

Upon the invitation of the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, has come to Albania for a working visit.

The two presidents visited the Municipality of Pustec, where they met with representatives of the Macedonian national minority in this region, where among other things they also discussed the Open Balkans.

"There are over 50 initiatives that create suitable conditions for cooperation. The open Balkans is one of them and I hope it will continue. It is indisputable that the 6 participating countries are all part of the Berlin process, which has more precise structural relations than the open Balkans. 6 countries participate in the Berlin process and only 3 in the Open Balkans, and this is a big shortcoming", stated Pendarovski.

While Begaj said about the Open Balkans: "In this initiative, all the countries of the Western Balkans are included and the bureaucratic procedures are facilitated, it facilitates the movement of goods and people, obviously like any other regional initiative, they are good. Political executive decision-makers think about continuing an initiative or not".
