President Decrees Protocol on Sweden's, Finland's NATO Membership
President of the Republic, Ilir Meta has decreed on Sunday the protocol for the membership of Finland and Sweden to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
In its announcement of the decree, the Presidency underlined that Albania has followed with priority the internal legal procedures related to the membership of these two countries.
According to the institution of President Meta, the membership of these two countries is a historical development and a great strategic change, which is supported at every step by Albania.
"President of the Republic, Ilir Meta decreed by proclamation the following laws:
- Law no. 56/2022 "On the ratification of the protocol of the North Atlantic Treaty for the accession of the Republic of Finland"; and
- Law no. 57/2022 "On the ratification of the protocol of the North Atlantic Treaty for the accession of the Kingdom of Sweden".
Republic of Albania has followed with priority the internal legal procedures related to the membership of the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden in NATO.
Membership of these friendly countries is definitely a historical development and a major strategic change, which is supported at every step by Albania.
We are convinced that their membership will influence the strengthening of the joint contribution to this alliance.
