President Signs Discharge of Edi Rama as Foreign Minister, Changes in Cabinet

The Albanian President, Ilir Meta signed in this last day of the year the discharge of Edi Rama as Foreign Minister of country. The Presidency informed on Thursday that the Head of State signed the decree to discharge the Prime Minister as Foreign Minister, and at the same time approved the appointment of Olta Xhacka as the new Foreign Minister.

So far, the Head of Government Rama was not only the Prime Minister but even the Foreign Minister. He decided to take both position, appointing as 'acting minister' Gent Cakaj who decided to give up from this post days ago.

At the same time, the Head of State signed even the decree to appoint the new Defense Minister, Niko Peleshi.

PM, Edi Rama decided to reshuffle government only few months ahead of the Parliamentary Elections of 25 April.
