Serbian Patriarch Refused Entry to Kosovo
Serbian patriarch, Porfirio, was denied entry to Kosovo this Monday, at the administrative crossing of Merdara.
The Patriarch had driven from Serbia and was refused entry in accordance with Kosovo's regulations, according to the law on foreigners and based on the decision of the Government in Pristina.
Also according to Kosovo and Serbian media, the patriarch stayed in the car for a few minutes on the side controlled by the Kosovo police, then turned around and went back to Kurshumli.
Meanwhile, after his refusal to enter Kosovo, Patriarch Porfirije himself reacted.
Through a post on Instagram, he stated that he found the door of the house closed.
"As patriarch I went to the first and most important seat of my church. As a priest I went to be with my people on the eve of the most joyful holiday. As a citizen I went to my house, to my house. At home, from the moment I started being in this position, I repeat: Wherever I have been outside of Kosovo and Metohija, I have been in a foreign country, I am alone in Kosovo and Metohija in my home. Today, the doors of my house are closed to me and I pray to God to unlock the hearts of those who closed them and that the love of Christmas and the birth of the Savior touch the minds and consciences of all people," the patriarch said on Instagram.
