Shkodra Mufti Debates with Democrat MP over Headscarves in Schools

Mufti of Shkodra, Muhamed Sytari, has responded to the MP of Democratic Party (DP), Agron Gjerkmarkaj, regarding the debate on the wearing of headscarves for Muslim girls in schools.

The Mufti has rejected claims that the Islamic headscarf serves Serbian circles, and has called on all other atheist politicians and academics to keep quiet.

"The best answer for all the Islamophobes and Osmanophobes of the Albanian lands who don't stop throwing bile against Muslims. From those who are dressed in the garb of politics to those who wear any garb, including that of religion. Who speak against the hijab. One who, unfortunately, is the vice-president of our Parliament, says that the covering of our daughters in Kosovo serves the Serbs. There is no possibility that the hijab of our mothers will serve the Serbs.

As an anonymous person says. Political extremism when it pokes its nose into matters of religion or misuses it becomes a national danger, and a pickaxe that tries to destroy national and inter-religious harmony. That's why we have to face him and tell him to shut up and mind his own business, and you and your slob are not called to destroy the values ??of national harmony. The time has come to tell them that you are the ugliest model of presenting something in our country", declared the mufti of Shkodra.

Previously, Gjekmarkaj had stated that the draft law for allowing headscarves in institutional premises and schools is a use with tragic consequences for the image of our nation.

"The bill for allowing the headscarf in institutional premises, schools and offices in Kosovo is not respect for religion but its political use. A use with tragic consequences for the image of our nation", Gjekmarkaj previously stated on Friday.

Wearing headscarves in schools has sparked a heated debate in Kosovo, when Prime Minister Albin Kurti declared that their permission will be reviewed.
