SPAK Proposes Hajnaj as NBI’s Chair
The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SPAK) has nominated Aida Hajnaj for chairwoman of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). This proposal came after the other three candidates: Ervin Hoda, Idajet Faskaj and Artur Bey were disqualified from the selection process.
Aida Hajnaj, currently Deputy General Director of State Police fulfills all the legal criteria for the job in Special Prosecution’s opinion, and her name is sent for voting at the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP). Her selection and proposal were monitored by US and EU representatives, as reported.
Nevertheless, the Deputy Chairman of Democratic Party (DP) Edi Paloka denounced the Vice General Director of Police Aida Hajna running for NBI’s leading position to be involved in the release of Naser Gashi wanted for drug trafficking.
On Friday, the democrat demanded Hajna’s disqualification from NBI head’s race under the argument that she has defended the officers who freed Gashi and has suspended the constable who decried the scandal.
