Spanish Actress, 28 Dies in Car Accident
Spanish actress Beatriz Álvarez-Guerra, 28, died in a car accident in Pontevedra, in the Rías Baixas region, the international media reported.
The event took place last Tuesday afternoon, when the car driven by her 24-year-old boyfriend crashed into the Almorfei de Cotobade river, in the province of Pontevedra.
On his part, the young man managed to get out of the car and tried to extract his partner as well, without succeeding. He also asked for help from other motorists who had stopped to help and jumped into the river, but it was all in vain.
The car had overturned during the fall, the water was cloudy due to the impact and the spilled fuel prevented Beatriz from being extracted in time.
The emergency services, intervened on the spot, could not help but ascertain the death of the young actress who was stuck inside the car. The boy was also rescued, and his condition was good.
After the incident, the 24-year-old, resident in Madrid but originally from a municipality near the crash site, was arrested: the civil guard found that he did not have a driving license.
When questioned, he made use of the right not to answer and was denounced on the loose for manslaughter and violations of the Highway Code. His identity has not been revealed.
