One Arrested, Two Prosecuted for Cigarettes Smuggling
State Police has finalized Saturday the “Contraband” codenamed operation, as a result of which one citizen of Tirana has been arrested and two others have been prosecuted.
According to the police, behind bars ended the citizen with the initials B. G., 40 years old, resident in Tirana, for the criminal offenses "Smuggling of goods for which excise is paid or with full or partial suspension of excise customs duties", "Trade and transportation of goods that are smuggling”, “Storage or depositing of goods”.
Investigative actions have shown that the citizen B. G., after providing contraband cigarettes, sold them in various tobacco shops, and their transport was performed by the citizen D. G. Following the investigative actions, during the search of the apartment of the citizen B. G., 200 packs of cigarettes of different types were found and seized as material evidence.
In the meantime, the materials were forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office of the Tirana Judicial District, for further procedural actions.
“In continuation of the work and successive strikes for the prevention, identification and crackdown of criminal activity in the field of smuggling of goods, after a thorough investigative work, as well as based on information obtained operatively, from the Section for Investigation of Economic Crime and Financial, the police operation codenamed "Contraband" was finalized, in the framework of which the following citizen was arrested in flagrante delicto: BG, 40 years old, resident in Tirana”, said the police.
