On National Youth Day, the US embassy in Tirana has joined the reactions. The embassy declares that just as it stood 33 years ago by the side of Albanian youth and citizens when they were looking for a country like the rest of Europe, the USA stands today with pride on Albania's path to the EU. 

"Today, we remember the Albanian youth and students who initiated the protests that brought the fall of the communist regime and the birth of democracy on December 8, 1990. 

The United States stood by the youth and citizens of Albania as they sought a country "like all of Europe," and we proudly stand with you today as Albania takes its next step toward full membership in the European Union," the Embassy of the USA in a post on social networks.
