Tensions at Border, Vucic Receives Clear Message from NATO
Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? received a clear message from NATO, through an officer of the General Staff, on Sunday evening.
This is what Thomas Theiner, a former member of the Italian army and "expert on Cold War issues" and the Alliance's defense strategy, says. He referred to the events that took place in the north of Kosovo, namely on the Kosovo-Serbia border after warnings from the Government of Kosovo that from today (August 1, 2022), the implementation of reciprocity with Serbia for license plates and IDs would begin.
"I think that the officers of the General Staff of Serbia last night explained to President Vu?i? that if he dares to attack Kosovo, NATO warplanes will react within a few hours...", Theiner initially wrote on Twitter.
Thus, according to him, within 48 hours, the 173rd Airborne Brigade of the American Army would be transported to the airport of Pristina, while the Parachute Brigade of the Italian Army "Folgore" would be transported to the Airport of Gjakova (built by the Italian Army for this purpose).
Theiner has further emphasized on Twitter that a day later the Mechanized Brigade of the Italian Army "Pinerolo", located in Bari and its surroundings, would be activated and would be sent by the III Naval Division of the Italian Navy with its ships from Brindisi to Durres in two days.
From Durrës to Mitrovica, he adds, "Freccia IFVs", combat vehicles of the Pinerolo Motorized Brigade and Centauro tank destroyers - would take six hours to reach - thanks to the A1 highway co-financed by the West.
In short, concludes this expert, NATO has made plans and has been training to protect Kosovo for 23 years.
"If the Serbs ever go and attack, the Alliance forces will 'outnumber' them in the air for hours, and on the ground for days." And as he said at the end, "NATO made sure that the generals of Serbia knew this".
