Wanted for Murder, How Florenc Capja Escaped Albanian Justice

State Police has conducted this Wednesday morning an operation aiming at putting in handcuffs Florenc Capja, wanted by the Albanian justice for ordering the murder of father and son, Nezir and Gentjan Beqiri.

Albaniandailynews.com has learned that the officers of Elbasan had information that he had returned to Albania and took action to arrest him in his father's business.

Although he was not there, the police found a stolen car, 2 stolen license plates, military ammunition and a police hat at Florenc Capja's father, Fejzulla Çapja's car service station in Elbasan this morning.

Florenc Capja, since July 12 of last year, was a free citizen in the United Arab Emirates, with a residence permit and even employed.

His defense lawyer, Neshat Fana, confirmed to the local media on July 28 of last year that Florenc Çapja stayed for a period of time under surveillance in an apartment in Dubai, but was then released.

Çapja claimed, according to an e-mail sent to the Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO), that he has not received any information about the process being developed against him in Albania.

Florenc Capja is wanted by Albanian justice as he is accused of ordering the murder of father and son, Nezir and Gentian Beqiri, which happened in Elbasan in 2012. In connection with this event, his uncle Ardian Çapja was arrested.

Jorgo Leku alias Olsi Leka, who was handcuffed in Athens on October 11, 2020, was also arrested for the murder of Gentian and Nezir Beqir; Etien Cani who was extradited from Italy to Albania in 2020 as well as Ervis Bardhi.

Regardless, Gentian Beqiri was shot dead on August 15, 2012 in his apartment when he was under police custody under "house arrest".

Beqiri was convicted as being implicated in the murder of businessman Sokol Çapja, in 2005. On August 15, 2012, his father Nezir Beqiri was also raped, who died.
