Twenty Five Dead in Bus Accident

A tire blowout caused a bus to lose control and crash into a barrier before bursting into flames, killing at least 25 people in western India, police told local media.

It is reported that 33 people were in the bus when the accident happened around 1:30 am on Saturday morning on a highway in Maharashtra.

Eight survivors were taken to hospital, police said. The private travel bus left for Pune city from Nagpur, another city in the state.
Fatal road accidents are common in India, often due to careless driving, poorly maintained roads and outdated vehicles.
More than 110,000 people are killed every year in road accidents across India, according to the police.
